Luckily this race, just like other has no 'set' guidelines for every single person to behave.
There are really in the end just generalizations and guidelines to follow, based on the races history and psyche. You can't call ever Amarr a religious/slaver, just as you can't call every Minmatar a tribal/freedomfighter, a Gallente a Free-willed/Anything goes or a Caldari a Buisness/Corporate Slave. These are generalizations. They are just like real people RP-wise...not static.
When making a character for real RP, you do need to start from these gneralizations and move-on from there. Let's take a Caldari for instance: Say they were born into the big corporate life. Most people would immediatly think: "Oh he's going to be the next big thing of the corporation, or a spineless corporate slave." Could be right...and could be wrong. Put in some factors. Does the family stay in this position? Are they fired? What good things have happned? What bad things have happend along the way? Are there any events that could radically change, or even subtly change the way your character behaves/thinks? For all you know this born into a wealthy corporate family child could grow up to hate the very things he was brought to love....or become so obsssed with it, he'll do anything to make it more powerful.
What are the characters goals? What made these goals? Does this Caldari wish to see a return to older way of Honor among the Caldri, in a time that might have existed before money became more important? (The Japanese-lifestyle is the closest example as someone stated before) Are there any groups they identify with...or dislike?
You could quite literally spend an hour or more just making a background for your character and they way you play it. There are so many variables.
I know it's slightly off, but one of the best character generators I had seen for background had been from the old Mechwarrior RPG (No not the Battletech minatures game, this is a different version). It gave you your character based on the characters past and how he grew up, events along the way and how they trained. You also had negative traits and positive ones. No one is perfect after all. (and those that say so are suffering from delusions which is negative in itself)
I know RP for many in MMPOG's doesn't exist in the real shape or form it was intended to be from PnP, but if you want to set up some goals, a good character background can be one of the most driving factors you'll ever have. Best part is it has nothing to do with the pixels you see on your screen...it has to do with you! It won't change a thing but the way you might see your character and play it.
Rambling again now....anyways. You can RP a Caldari (or any race for that matter). You just have to figure out what your 'angle' is on the whole character and how they relate to EVE.
